What the differences between position and ideology?
According to Oxford Dictionary, ideology is “a system of ideas and ideals, especially one which forms the basis of economic or political theory and policy.” On the other hand, the same source define ‘Position’ as “a place where someone or something is located or has been put.” From these two, we can understand that ideology is a bigger picture of ideas which may establish your position somewhere you stand in, fight for, or contributing with.
Does it sound right? Does ideology allow you to change your position regarding your different idea or agenda over time? Depends on how you define yourself and how people define you in your community. Or maybe larger than those: depends on how people define you based on your agenda.
“Am I a trustworthy person?”
“Am I a glory hunter?”
“Am I a politician?”
“Am I an idealist?”
“Or…..am I a follower?”
As a person, we all are a social creature which unique between one to each other. However, the idea and mindset may not as unique as the physical appearance. People gather ideas through many channels nowadays, and those ideas may influence the other which may come from anywhere on the internet. Disparities over incomplete information have been one of the most severe disasters this century: It killing people in mind and blinding the heart by spreading hate.
But, once again, it all depends on who we are and how excellent you understand yourself.
Ideology came from bright fresh ideas after several life-experience before it grows inside your heart and enhances your way of life. Ideology may end up as your personal guidance. Furthermore, a wrong ideology may also be a disaster your surroundings and yourself.
Does anyone have an ideology? The answer is “Yes” or “Not yet.” How about people who never choose for the entire life? Then, in my opinion, that person has chosen his/her ideology as an “abstainer.” Even Hitler has it, every prophet has it, so, of course, you have it or ‘just not yet’. No doubt about it.
Then, now, back to the basic question. “What if the world’s changing, the needs replacing, the agenda changing over time, which make you need to change your ideology to deal with it?”
I keep repeating on this: It depends on the personality and ideology itself. If you are willing to trade your ideology for it, then it may sum up to two possible descriptions: your existing ideology is not sufficient which makes you look for a better way of life, OR you are a chameleon-opportunist with an ideology of glory-hunter.
Time flies, people change, only love remains.
